The soap is hot pink, the kind of pink that’s too loud, too fake to be real, but here it is in your hand. Vegetable-based, they say. Like that makes it pure, like it’s better for you. Feels like you’re scrubbing yourself with nothing, just the illusion of clean. The water is lukewarm, never hot. The soap lathers more than the commercial stuff, just slides across your skin, dissolving into the water without a trace. It’s hot pink, like burnt flesh, like something soft and breakable. You think about that as you rub it on your arms, your chest, over the bones under your skin.
 
There’s no smell. That’s the point. Nothing to remind you of luxury, no fancy orange or lavender bullshit designed to make you feel okay about drowning your senses. Just the raw, sterile absence of it all. You wash because you’re supposed to wash. You scrub because dirt exists. But this soap, it’s like wiping down a mirror. You’re not really here. You’re nothing. Just going through the motions. You keep scrubbing, but the feeling’s always the same: you come out clean, but never different.'
